In this episode of the Joe Miller Unplugged Show on the Fiat Ministry Network (fiatministrynetwork.tv), host Joe Miller talks with James Littleton -- national speaker, evangelist, and Co-Founder/Co-Director of Forming Faithful Families (www.formingfaithfulfamilies.com ). James is the father of 19 children (14 girls, 2 boys, and 5 children in Heaven). James shared his testimony about how he survived cancer, how God is with us even in our suffering, and how God brings good out of everything. Faced with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, James came to more profoundly cherish what matters most: his relationship with God and his family. Through numerous courses of chemotherapy and an eventual bone marrow stem-cell transplant, James was able to share his strong faith in God with others undergoing difficult times. James has captured his amazing journey of faith in his uplifting book “Healed through Cancer and Other Adversities” (www.healedthroughcancer.com).
James and his wife Kathleen founded Forming Faithful Families to help Catholic mothers and fathers realize and embrace the God given responsibility and privilege of being Catholic parents and to offer practical support to help them better live out their vocations. Being a Catholic parent is more rewarding and challenging than any career or other endeavor, and much more pivotal in terms of getting themselves, their spouses and their children to heaven! The Forming Faithful Families website (www.formingfaithfulfamilies.com) has a wealth of information on many topics of importance to Catholic families. There is also a video introduction to the 15-part video series now available for dioceses, parishes, small faith groups, and families.
During the show, Joe and James discussed some of the many challenges to marriage in today’s culture – co-habitation, contraception, divorce, etc. James shared beautifully about how marriage has a sacramental power. Couples praying together, putting God first, and being open to life will build marriages that last into eternity. James is able to share from a wealth of experience serving as a “life coach” for people who are struggling within their families. At 55:00 into the show, James gave a terrific answer to a question about overcoming the modern culture attitude that families should be small.
James and Kathleen Littleton also host the Forming Faithful Families show on Radio Maria (radiomaria.us) each Thursday at 9:30am Eastern time.
