Episcopal Endorsement of Forming Faithful Families by Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of Springfield in Illinois: “In his Apostolic Exhoration, Familiaris Consorio, Pope St. John Paul II speaks to the important role that married couples play in the apostolate to other married couples and families. He writes that, by virtue of the sacrament that they have received, the Lord “confers upon Christian married couples a special mission as apostles, sending them as workers into His vineyard, and, in a very special way, into this field of the family.” (FC 71) James and Kathleen Littleton have heeded this call well, sharing the fruits of their marriage and their love of Christ and His Church for the building up and strengthening of other couples as they seek to live out their vocation to marriage and family life with greater fidelity. As a mother of fourteen children ages twenty-four to four, at the age of fifty-one I was most providentially given a window of opportunity to obtain a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies, summa cum laude, from Ave Maria University’s Institute for Pastoral Theology. My three year course commenced in August of 2011, six months after my husband survived a bone marrow transplant for stage IV leukemia and ended in June of 2014 with the folding of the program itself. What a blessing and a privilege to study from the original sources the teachings of the Catholic faith, instructed in person by truly devout and learned professors. For my part, even though I often felt lost and confused, yet at the same time convinced this is what God wanted of me, I can honestly say I gave every course my best effort, although my resulting work as will be attested hereto is far from perfectly scholarly! Yet I humbly share it for the good that may be gained for His glory alone.
